History: Prosper was built in 1902 on the new railroad line that ran through north Texas. It was one of the last towns established in Collin County and was located in a part of the country known as Elm Valley.
Railroad officials are said to have named the town for the prosperous living conditions found there. It was formally incorporated in 1914 with a population of 500.
Awards: Named by 2010 D Magazine as the 5th best suburb in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
